Day 87
I did not want to get leave when I woke up. This hostel was amazing. I was so comfortable. I debated taking a day off there. After breakfast I decided to keep going. Jefferson City was only one day away and I’d be able to go to a hotel and so all my resupply shopping there. As well as do some media and PR stuff.
Said bye to Tom and I took off. I was wired from caffeine and energy foods. I loaded up this morning for some reason. I was really zooming. I just kept walking and wasn’t fatigued at all. I got a call from an AJC reporter who is going to do a feature story back in atlanta when the walk is finished. Usually I would sit down to talk on the phone but I didn’t stop. Just kept stepping.
I put Pandora radio on and was just cruising. In the zone. A friendly cyclist rode by and asked about the walk. Her name was Hope. I loved her. She was so kind and I found out later on that she donated money to my gofundme account. I may start calling Lieutenant Dan the Hope Mobile.
I had to cross a huge bridge to get into Jefferson City. You can see the Capitol building from far away. I was excited. I had a feeling that I’d be able to do some great work for the cause there. Not tonight though. I’d save that for tomorrow. I get to the hotel and checked in. I met a few people in the lobby and then went to my room.
Before I settled in, I looked on my map and noticed a chipotle was nearby. Well, a mile away. Worth it! I walked the mile to get there and then the mile back. I laid in bed and ate the whole bowl while watching sports. I was in heaven and needed it.
Late at night, around 1145, I get a knock on the door. It was Noah, a guy I had met in the lobby earlier. He had gone to the store and brought me back a bag full of goodies to help with my walk. That was awesome. He seemed like a great guy. I wanted to talk more but I was so ready for a good night’s sleep!!!
Tomorrow was a day off of the walk but still a day full of working. I had a lot to do so I needed some good rest….
